Caring Acts

“What wisdom can you find that is greater than kindness?”
Jean-Jacques Rousseau

There are many things I love about writing this blog — and one of them is passing onto you ideas or information that highlight the power of words and communication to transform, uplift, and inspire. That’s why I’m sharing a note that popped into my in-box:

“Please help us create a 24-hour day of kindness by sharing event info and the link with your audience! This non-profit would really appreciate any help and support.”The note is from the California Community Foundation, which is launching a 24-hour “Pass It Along LA Day,” — a 24-hour online giving event on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from midnight to midnight. (to learn more, visit: passitalongla.org). The Pass It Along Fund was established by anonymous donors to provide immediate financial assistance to people in critical need within 72 hours of their request, with no obligations except to “pass along” two acts of kindness. So far, it’s helped more than 1,300 individuals.

But this isn’t just happening in LA — it’s happening all across the country! Tuesday, May 6, 2014 is the first nationwide online giving day for Give Local America, an initiative organized by Kimbia and the Council on Foundations, the nation’s leading nonprofit association of grantmaking organizations. The goal: to inspire people across the U.S. to give to local non-profit organizations and make an impact in their communities (for more details, visit Kimbia and Give Local America).

Kind words, kind deeds — let’s share them with our families, our communities, and our readers through the stories we tell. And write on!
